As of the academic year 2004/2005, the School of Ukrainian Law commenced its functioning. The initiative was possible thanks to the cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration KUL and the Faculty of National Law of Ivan Franko University in Lvov, the Lvov Legal Institute of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ternopil Academy of National Economy. The objective of the Schools activity is the propagation of the knowledge of the Ukrainian legal system, economy and culture.
At the outset of the academic year 2005/2006, the School has transformed into a three-semester Postgraduate Course in the Fundamentals of Ukrainian Law. The lectures are held in Polish. The syllabus includes lectures on all areas of law delivered by the Ukrainian academic experts. Besides legal subjects, it is possible to take on Ukrainian language course. The classes are scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays once a month. The participants of postgraduate studies may, at their option, take part in legal student conferences organized in Łuck and Lvov.
The Schools objective is to maintain and develop cultural bonds and the sense of community of interests between the Polish and Ukrainian societies by, inter alia, overcoming the existing stereotypes and biases.
