Leadership
Authority at University is held within the hands of the Rector, the Senate, Deans and Faculty Councils.
The Rector manages the University activity and represents it outside of the University. He is the superior to the employees, students including Ph.D. students of the University. The Rector performs his duties by means of Vice-Rectors. To perform certain tasks, Rector may appoint his plenipotentiaries (see § 29 (1) and § 30 of the Statute of KUL).
Senate is responsible for passing resolutions in the most important issues concerning the University. The advisory organs for the Senate are the Senate commissions (see § 26 (1) and § 28 (1) of the Statute of KUL).
A Dean manages the faculty and is a superior to all employees as well as a superior and guardian of students and Ph.D. students at the faculty. He monitors the scientific, educational, administrative and economic matters of the faculty. A Dean manages the faculty with the help of a Deputy Dean or Deputy Deans (see § 35 (1, 2) and § 38 (1) of the Statute of KUL).
A Faculty Council deals with the matters concerning science, education and upbringing at the faculty. It also watches over the development of scientific research, supervises the realisation of already passed resolutions as well as act to the benefit of employees and the improvement of their scientific and professional qualifications (see § 32 (1) of the Statute of KUL).
